LEATHER FOR BELTS
Full-grain leather is the strongest and most durable part of the hide of an animal which is found just below the hair. The grain pattern in this part of the hide is very tight, and the leather made from here is called “full-grain” leather.
Since the grain is very tight it can resist moisture very well. Full-grain leather is the best leather quality because it has not been separated from the top grain or split layers, and is, therefore, the strongest and most durable type of leather. Hence, the leather used to make durable and strong belts are full-grain leather.
LEATHER FOR SHOES and BAGS
When it comes to the “Top Grain Leather”, it is considered to be the softest and is more pliable in quality. The grain in this type of leather may be “corrected,” where imperfections in the hide are removed through sanding. Then an artificial grain is pressed into the leather and topped with a treatment of pigment or stain.
Top grain leather is also used to create suede, shoes, bags, and nubuck. This top grain leather is basically of very smooth and soft in texture and hence used in making of many things.
